So, you know what you want.
Now, you need to figure out what you need to achieve from a business perspective to reach these goals.
It’s time to think about what success means for your business or your career this year and in the future that will help you obtain your personal dreams.
In order to figure out how to go about that for your position, start by considering the following:
Walking through these questions will help you nail down what you need to focus on to be successful for your business (or career) during this next year.
Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean you can’t dream big. What would be really cool for your business to do? Even if you don’t have a business, what is your vision for your department or position?
Think about where you see your position and/or business on 29th of June 2019.
Set 3 to 5 goals that you feel from analyzing your answers to the above questions (and doing a little meditation on your career or business!) that will benefit your business or your position while helping you achieve that personal success you defined last week.
Whether it’s for your position or your business, you should write down these goals and truly believe in yourself that you can make them happen. And while lofty has its place, It’s a good idea to find a few that are definitely achievable.
After you write down these 3 to 5 goals that will ultimately help you become what you define as personal success, you need to take them apart and define the steps.
“You’ve likely heard of SMART goals,” wrote Stephanie Bravo in “How to (Really) Achieve Your Career Goals This Year” in January 2018. “It’s the criteria for goal-setting whereby if you make goals more ‘specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound,’ it’s more likely you’ll attain them.”
That’s why it is important to take each goal and break it into smaller tasks with deadlines. Deadlines hold you accountable to at least yourself and will more likely prompt you to go ahead and take action.
As you look at the calendar, put the steps into what I call “90-day sprints.”
Come back next week for more on how to create these 90-day sprints and use them to work towards your business success.
