And just like that, we’re into the second month of 2022. Time flies when you’re having fun, right? 

This month we will be focusing on providing you with the tools you need to assess the culture you’re cultivating within your business and across your team. 

We’ll dispel some of the myths and expectations of what we think culture is, and show you how we at Bespoke HR work with our clients to build thriving, happy and productive workplaces. 

What’s your Culture IQ Score? 

Through Bespoke HR’s combined decades of experience in the people space, I’ve seen time and time again what can make or break a business when it comes to culture.

Through this, I’ve developed a comprehensive assessment tool that recognises and benchmarks your business against cultural standards. This is measured against 13 key focus areas and can help you:

  • Identify any areas of improvement or what might be unravelling your culture
  • Spot any ‘blindspots’ you might have as a leader that’s impacting on your team 
  • Receive recommendations on how you can change and improve your score and workplace morale 
  • Focus on one or two key areas that will have the biggest impact on your business.

1. Dream big — vision and mission

How clearly defined is your vision, mission and values within your business? Do you know what direction you’re heading and how clearly is that communicated to your business?

2. Compare HR standards

How does your business measure up to the standards of high performing companies? We will assess you on the basic HR foundations we recommend to have in place in order to operate at a high level. 

3. Leadership potential 

What is your capacity as a leader? Do you have blindspots? Are you hitting a ceiling when it comes to leading your team and need to take it to the next level? 

4. Developing your workforce plan 

How are you planning for the future of your workforce? This will assess how you are currently planning and any gaps there may be in how you are currently looking at hiring. 

5. Your employer brand

How are you currently viewed or perceived in the job market? Are you a business people desire working for, and how are you currently advertising that? 

6. Recruitment processes

This section will assess your current recruiting strategies and process and identify what may be working and what’s not. 

7. Onboarding and employee experience

How are new employees experiencing your business in the first week, month, quarter and year? During these critical ‘moments that matter’, your approach to onboarding could be overlooked and potentially be damaging to the culture you’re wanting to create. 

8. Communication 

Developing an open feedback culture is essential to creating trust, openness and a sense of belonging within teams. This section will assess your current communication styles. 

9. Managing and developing performance 

Do you have performance management processes in place? How does your team feel about them? This section focuses on developing talent and how to maximise the strengths across your team. 

10. Team dynamics and behaviour

How do your people gel as a team? This section will assess employee engagement, opportunities for succession planning and how to develop potential based on individual personalities. 

11. Leaving a legacy and developing a Culture Code

How are you currently showing up in your business, and what legacy will you leave? We will look at what elements of your culture are being intentionally engineered, and what areas may be growing organically. 

12. Innovation 

This will assess whether your business is continuously evolving and progressing, or how stagnation and stale thinking may be impacting on your workplace culture.
